Its corrosion resistance is equivalent to the best nickel-based alloy. Because its nitrogen content is twice as high as 254SMO, its strength is higher than 904L and 254SMO.
The 654SMo super austenitic stainless steel smelting method is currently popular abroad, argon-oxygen decarburization refining method (VOD or AOD), and it can also be produced by continuous casting method for producing stainless steel. However, because the amount of 654SMO steel is much smaller than that of ordinary austenitic stainless steel, it is smelted in AOD or VOD refining furnace (usually more than 20 tons per furnace), and the supplier is unwilling to increase the inventory, so our company uses vacuum induction refining furnace to make steel, plus electroslag remelting and refining, and then forges to open the billet, and process round steel, forgings, flanges, etc.
